MEET OUR MARCH TO THE POLLS TEAM

Camila Correa Bourdeau
Executive Director
Before joining March to the Polls as Executive Director, Camila served as a teacher, instructional coach, and the Executive Director for an organization focused on school board leadership. Camila, a bilingual immigrant from Chile, uses her strong passion for education to drive her work at our organization, as well as at the Dallas County Citizen Election Advisory Committee where she is a member. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and her Master’s degree in education from Hunter College.

Jess Lugo
Program Manager, Student Voter Empowerment Clubs
Jess is a former high school social studies teacher from Tarrant County. She has served as president for Texas State Teachers Association Leadership Team and been a volunteer with March to the Polls since 2019. She helped establish the student civic engagement clubs program in Tarrant County. Jess earned her Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and Master’s in education from University of North Texas.

Tara Hutchins
Development Manager
Tara spent much of her early career as an entrepreneur, owning several local small businesses. Her work in philanthropy began as a volunteer for domestic violence organizations before transitioning into homeless services. Tara spent over four years in varying leadership roles, including COO of Marketing and Administration, at Arlington Life Shelter before joining March to the Polls in 2022. Her experience in both the private and nonprofit sector and knowledge in nonprofit management, development and grant writing contribute to the overall success of MTTP. Tara earned both her Bachelor’s degree’s from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Hannah Kessler
Volunteer and Partnerships Manager
Hannah’s work with March to the Polls began as a volunteer. Before volunteering with March to the Polls, she was a volunteer deputy registrar, registering voters throughout Dallas county at community events. She’s worked alongside local non-profit organizations like Somos Tejas, For Oak Cliff, 4DWN, and SAAVETX to register and empower voters through voter registration and voter education efforts. Through her work she’s fostered strong bonds within the community. She continues to support initiatives set out by local non-profit organizations and highly values those partnerships.

Eric Cedillo
President
Eric is a Dallas attorney specializing in personal injury and immigration law; a Clinical Professor of Law at the SMU Dedman School of Law; a Legal Advisor for the League of United Latin America Citizens (LULAC); a founder of the Latino Voter Empowerment Coalition; and a member of the Dallas Independent School District Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and the Dallas County Citizen Election Advisory Committee. He’s always looking for new ways to help members of his community find and exercise their voices for the betterment of humankind.

Robert Elkin
President-Elect
Robert, a retired litigation attorney who has been active in the areas of voting rights and civic engagement for many years, helped organize March to the Polls back in 2018. His steadfast commitment to justice, equality, and equitable representation has helped to make our organization what it is today. He previously served as the Dallas County Chapter Leader for Spread the Vote, helping eligible voters obtain IDs. He is also a civic engagement leader with the Religious Action Center Texas.

Kaylan Dixon
Board Member
Before joining the March to the Polls team, Kaylan worked for the Dallas Independent School District in several capacities, including as a teacher and a lead instructional specialist. She currently serves as the Dallas County Regional Advocacy Director for Raise Your Hand Texas, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public school education. She brings a tremendous amount of experience and dedication to March to the Polls’ Board of Directors.

Donna James Harvey
Board Member
Donna James Harvey began her professional career in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Buying. She transitioned to education and subsequently non-profit, where she has held numerous positions at the collegiate level and worked with several organizations supporting underrepresented communities. Most recently, Donna worked to implement the Funds for Racial Equity grant with the North Texas Community Foundation.

Lon Burnam
Board Member
Lon Burnam is a former Texas House of Representative for District 90, encompassing Fort Worth, Texas and surrounding areas. Before that, he served as the executive director for the Dallas Peace Center. He was elected to the State House in 1996.

Athena Chavez
Treasurer
Athena is a retired business executive in the financial services technology industry with deep experience in building and managing large organizations. During her forty-year career, she held positions as Senior VP of Operations, Senior VP of Professional Services, and VP of Marketing. She jumpstarted the operations of March to the Polls in Tarrant County. Athena’s dedication to voter participation and expert-level proficiency in operations are enormous assets to our organization.
